The world-famous Canadian artist, The Weeknd, will once again be doing a world tour in 2026. He started this tour in July 2022 but is now finally set to conclude in September 2026. It is said to be one of the highest-grossing concerts of all time and one of the most attended tours too. It is one of the main tours in 2026 that is being greatly anticipated by all the fans.
Originally, it was to start in 2020, celebrating the release of his album “After Hours,” but because of Covid, it was postponed to 2021 and 2022. During this time, The Weeknd was able to produce and release two more albums (“Dawn FM” and “Hurry Up Tomorrow”) that he included in his concerts and therefore made the latter even more successful than previously.
There were many obstacles that had to be surmounted during these next years. First, Doja Cat, who was supposed to appear as a guest star, had to withdraw due to surgery. Secondly, all the concerts had to be postponed by nearly a month due to The Weeknd losing his voice. This, of course, prolonged the tour even more than it had been previously.
Due to the success of the tour, The Weeknd announced the release of a documentary film, titled “The Weeknd: Live at SoFi Stadium”. It was later released on HBO Max on the 25th of February 2022.
During the years of this tour, the lighting, the stage, the dancing, and the songs got constantly updated to keep the spectators interested and involved in the latter. Also, attracting more people and creating new fans.
Another thing that fans greatly anticipated was the guest stars, as there were many. The most well-known to appear (excluding Doja Cat, who couldn’t make it) were Playboi Carti, Anitta, and Anna Lunoe.
After the first few years of this tour, a controversial movie was released by The Weeknd in 2025 called “Hurry Up Tomorrow”. Now this movie was extremely controversial, as it evokes in great depth things like his depression, addiction, and vulnerability. It is, in fact, an R-rated movie because of the incessant drug use and violence. Some fans greatly enjoyed the movie, as it gave them insight into the singer, but most disliked it because of its unnecessary content, and some people even described it as “slow and boring”. This movie was released while The Weeknd was taking a break from his concert and is therefore directly linked to it.
Therefore, The Weeknd’s greatly anticipated tour will finally be able to end in the last months of 2026.
