Well, there you have it folks. The official end of this school year is slowly approaching and summer is waiting just around the corner. A year throughout which Ecolint students worked hard to get through a dozen of different events. Exam seasons, Beauty and the Beast musical, LAMDA exams, UN visits, the STEM show and many more. You can give yourself a nice pat on the back if one of these rings a bell. And even if that’s not the case, congratulate yourself nonetheless.
Putting all of that aside, I think it’d be reasonable to also know what the students think of the year themselves! What they’d like to improve upon, what they disliked this year, etc. So, without further ado, here are the opinions of our dear Ecolint students.
What was your favorite part of the year?
“I honestly didn’t expect it, but it was the STEM show. I’m not really into science but seeing all of the cool projects my friends made really interested me and actually made me a little more interested in STEM too.”
“All of it. I enjoyed spending time with my friends, yes, learning too, but I’m excited for summer as well. “
“I found the half-year show really cool. The little concert we had and how we all kind of said goodbye to each other even though we knew it was only temporary – it felt nice. If not that then probably me participating in the Y11 Animal Farm play. I love my theatre friends and the overall experience was great.”
“Winter break. I just liked relaxing and I love Christmas. I know it isn’t exactly school-related but it was pretty important for me.”
What was your least favorite part of the year?
“For me it was unexpected grades. Every time, even if I studied, I sometimes got a 5 or worse and I just don’t know how. I tried and studied and reviewed so much before exams but at best it was all mediocre.”
“Sports day (Y9-Y10). It was so hot outside and I’m not that good at sports. Ok, I must admit that doing it with my friends was really fun and the free snacks were great, but doing it in 30ยฐ+ was crazy.”
“Having to wake up early and having a reasonable sleep schedule. I like staying up until late at night, so waking up early in the morning especially because I live far away isn’t convenient at all. It makes school so much less enjoyable but I dealt with it somehow.”
“G7 week. I hate going to the school cafeteria and because of the G7 week, me and my friends couldn’t go out to eat so that was pretty annoying. I also live really close to the school so I couldn’t really skip with a valid excuse. I really hope they don’t host it here any time soon.”
What do you look forward to next year?
“Not going to high school anymore. Since it’s my last year I will finally be able to take a gap year before starting college. I’m excited to travel the world and explore new places and just figure myself out in a way. However, I must agree that Ecolint has given me a lot that I can be thankful for.”
“Finally doing the subjects I wan’t and not subjects that I’m forced to do and that don’t interest me. It’s going to be so much easier studying for something that I actually want to study for and explore.”
“Nothing much. I think it’s going to be pretty same to this year. Maybe new students?”
“Well one thing that I don’t look forward to for sure is starting the IB. I’ve been listening about scary stories about it ever since I came here. I’m going to have to lock in and study so much.”
Is there something you’re going to do differently next year?
“Relax more – this year I overloaded my schedule so much that I barely had time to study or have fun with my friends and let me tell you it was hell. I had no time for myself and so I procrastinated a lot. Definitely make sure to add free time to your schedule.”
“I really want to try new things. I know it’s basic saying that I want to ‘step out of my comfort zone’ but I really stand by it. I’m going to try new things and see what I like and so on. I think I might find many new interesting hobbies and passions, so yeah.”
“Study more. Things are getting more serious every year and if I want to have a bright future I’m going to have to genuinely do the most I can to achieve something. “
“Definitely. I mean I’m pretty satisfied with what I did this year, but I guess I can try even harder and get even better results.”
