Sach Chandaria was born in Kenya, and raised in Canada. As a profession, Sash works for his family business, which involves investing in firms globally, and maintaining decade long relationships with countries.

We have had the fortunate opportunity to interview him and discover more about his life as a successful investor:

What inspired you to become an investor?

“I have always been good with numbers and enjoy the close relationship aspect of our family business. I was also always surrounded by my family who worked in the business, and was always inspired by the tasks they undertook.”

What was your university education like?

“After high school I attended Brown University in Rhode Island, US, where I majored in history. Following that, I continued my education at Harvard Business School in Boston, where I received an MBA.”

What was your first work-experience after University like and did it help with your current work?

“My first work experience was working as a manager in a Kenyan steel company. It taught me valuable skills of leadership, and gave me guidance for my later pursuit of business school.”

What is a normal working day like for you?

“I usually arrive at work around 9 am, and most of my days consist of meetings, conference calls and email responses, unless I am traveling to India, the US or Europe.”

In your opinion, what are some core strengths required for someone to go into a career in investment?

“In my opinion, core strengths are determination, perseverance and adaptability in the unpredictable, and often difficult to control world of investment.”
