What Did You Want to Be When You Were Younger?

Have you ever been asked what you wanted to be when you grew up? Well, did you know the answer? I’m sure many of you had dreams, passions, goals and most likely still have. So does everyone around us. Our parents, believe it or not, also had a dream life. That’s what makes us all human!

However, I can’t begin to explain how many times I have just looked at a person and said to myself: “Where do they work?” or maybe even “I wonder what they wanted to be when they were younger.” Humans are interested in one another, we care for each other. That’s the beauty of life within. Or maybe it’s just our selfish tendencies, who knows.

Anyway, enough talking. It’s time to find out what some people really, and I mean really, wanted to be!

What did you want to be when you were younger and why?

“Well first I really wanted to be a model, that was around 3-6 years-old. I just really found it so interesting how they walked and everyone looked their outfits. Then it unexpectedly went to baker, or restaurant owner I’d say, but I can’t even remember why. As of now, I want to be a stylist / fashion designer, so I guess we could say I kind of went back to my roots.”

“I wanted to be an actress. An author mainly. For me literature and I guess art as in writing and expressing was something that really caught my attention. I still want to be an actress today, but I know that I also need to have an extra plan in mind. Oh, I also thought about being an astrophysicist. That came after I watched Interstellar.”

“Architect. My parents always said it was a good-paying job, but honestly I also found it interesting. Everything around us designed by them. The reason why we think some cities are better than others? Architects.”

“I loved planes. So pilot for sure. I remember every time we used to be on a plane I asked my parents to ask the crew if I could go into the cockpit. Sometimes it worked, others not so much, but I’ll honestly never leave that part of me behind. I still get excited when I fly.”

“I don’t think I really wanted a job. I was lazy and I mean I still am, but my dream was to be an adult and just be able to do anything. Without any rules and of course no job. Nowadays I still don’t really want a job but I do want money so I don’t really have much of a choice.”

“I remember teaching used to interest me a lot. Not going to lie I was kind of a teacher’s pet but it was for good reasons. Something about marking and grading just seemed to satisfying to me. I mean now that I get graded in harsh ways I can’t really say the same but yeah. I used to even help teachers mark tests time-to-time if they let me and honestly that made me really excited.”

There you have it. A range of professions from the arts all the way to crazily complex sciences. Honestly, keep dreaming and aim for what you want. We don’t have much time to nit-pick what to be so just go for it.
