By Sarah Hines, Year 11
There are some days when life just seems so perfect and then there’s others that just…well … you know what I mean. Anyway, today was one of those days. I woke up at 7h00 as always and went to a clothes picker to choose my outfit of the day. But of course, it wouldn’t turn on. I even tried using the on/off button (since the hand sensor was obviously not working) but it still wouldn’t function. This meant I had to resort to the app on my phone instead, but since I haven’t used it in like 3 years I had long since thrown out most of the clothes on it. Well, I had to make do with what I could find, and I think it turned out pretty well considering I had to make it all by myself, well anyway Chat told me it looked good, but I think he was just being nice. Either way I’m so glad it was Tuesday since this meant my weekly makeup was fresh and it didn’t need any touch ups. My watch told me I should eat an orange since I was “low on Vitamin C”, or whatever that means. That was really annoying because I really hate oranges. Anyway, that was my breakfast, so I then took my handbag and left the apartment. I arrived at the train and for some reason some other girl on her phone was sitting in my seat. “Hey, you know that says ‘Janet Standford’ right?” I said, feeling annoyed. “Huh?” she pressed on her bud to stop her music, or whatever she was tuned into. “That’s my seat!” I was losing patience; it felt weird standing while the train was moving. “Yeah, but my spot is ‘under maintenance’ right now ‘cause they need to add more seats for the newborns”. I had forgotten that it was the first of the month, that’s when all the kids born three years ago (so everyone born in May 2234 in this case), are old enough to have their own seat. “Well, where am I supposed to go then?” “Well, I don’t know but it’s not my problem so…” She put her music back on. She better not be there tomorrow I grumbled as I moved towards an empty seat. Let’s just hope ‘Michael Bowden’ isn’t going to turn up. Luckily, he didn’t and I got off in front of my school, along with the rest of my grade. Because to avoid too many people on the train at once, they make each grade start at different times, for instance I’m in 012 so my whole grade starts at 9h06. We all walked in and I made it to my class on time. The screen lit up with the words “Geography” and my heart sank, literally my worst subject. I took my school-screen out of my bag and then it decided to not connect with the board. But I asked the Class Chat to fix it and apparently it was only a ‘minor glitch’, so I guess that means nothing’s wrong. Anyway, after that we had physics and English, with 15-minute scrolling in between each, naturally, and then it was lunch. But once we arrived at the food depot Chat told me he hadn’t ordered me anything since I had gone over the ‘standard weight’, this meant I wasn’t having lunch. I was so hungry too. Instead, I went to the ‘calm’ area and went on my phone. After lunch break was over, we went back to class and the board told us we had Economics, in fact, during Econ, my watch gave me the alert that I wasn’t having dinner either because I was still over the ‘standard weight’, I think the guy next to me saw it and like really judged me. But I mean who’s he to judge, he definitely didn’t look the ‘standard muscle mass’. Anyway, after that we had two other classes, thought I can’t remember what, and then I got to go home. No one was on my seat on the way back which was nice, and I then arrived back at the apartment. When I got back Chat told me my mom was in the bathroom having a shower. This was so annoying since that’s what I wanted to do. Instead, I went to my ‘scrolling-space’ and waited until she got out. After an hour or so Chat told me I had homework to do for physics before I could shower. I hated homework. After Chat explained to me what to write I went and had a wonderful shower, it was actually the best moment of my day, that is until it ended since I used up my water quota for the day. After that I went back to my scrolling-space. Chat told me my mom was going to eat and therefore I should leave the room so I didn’t get tempted to try and take her food. I begrudgingly obeyed and went to my room. After more scrolling my watch told me I had to go to bed so that I could obtain optimum sleeping time. I didn’t feel tired but whatever, I got ready for bed anyway. Chat then turned off the lights and now I am dictating to him my diary, it helps me get to sleep faster apparently.
